Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku ‘deeply regrets’ his loud partying over the summer and has reimbursed police for repeated callouts, says his lawyer.
The Belgium international was arrested in Beverly Hills just days before his move from Everton to Old Trafford after LAPD officers responded to five noise complaints in as many days.
Lukaku’s lawyer Robert Humphreys entered a no contest plea in court on Monday in Los Angeles and paid £336 to reimburse police for their time.
‘Mr Lukaku deeply regrets any inconvenience he caused the city of Beverly Hills,’ Humphreys said after the hearing. ‘And he’s pleased by this settlement to make amends for his past conduct and pleased to have the matter behind him.’
Lukaku was originally accused of a misdemeanour which carries a sentence of up to six months in jail, however Beverly Hills authorities accepted the plea to the lesser charge of a disturbance to the peace infraction.
In addition to reimbursing police, Lukaku has also been ordered to pay a further £384 in fines, fees and penalties.
