‘final goodbye message to sister’ SHINee’s Jonghyun sent before dying in apparent suicide

K-pop idol Jonghyun reportedly sent a heartbreaking goodbye message to his sister before his death.

SHINee frontman Kim Jong-hyun has died aged just 27, with local news outlets reporting his death as an apparent suicide.

And reports have claimed that the singer, known better as Jonghyun, told his sister that it was ‘too hard’ in a text message sent before he was found by police.

According to local Korean news outlets, Jonghyun texted: ‘It’s been too hard. Please send me off. Tell everyone I’ve had a hard time. This is my last goodbye.’

His sister filed a police report concerned for Mr Kim’s welfare, causing the police to visit the serviced residence in Cheongdam-dong he had checked into two nights ago.

Police discovered Jonghyun unconscious and he was taken to hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.

Police are investigating his death as a suspected suicide.

Fans of Jonghyun and SHINee have taken to social media to share their shock and sadness at the tragic news.

Jonghyun has just performed two solo concerts in Seoul a week ago.

He joined SHINee in 2008, with the band going on hiatus in 2013. However, they reformed with new music and concerts this year.

SHINee have been called the Princes of K-Pop due to their complex dance routines and incredible live vocals, earning huge hits with songs including Sherlock, Replay, Ring Ding Dong and Dream Girl.
