Manchester United confident to agree deal on signing Mesut Ozil

Manchester United are confident to agree the deal of signing Arsenal star Mesut Ozil with Jose Mourinho keen on reuniting with the Germany international.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has showed little willingness to extend his deal at the Emirates.

Ozil spent three seasons with Mourinho at Real Madrid and the pair struck up a close relationship. The Portuguese boss even wrote the foreword for Ozil’s recent autobiography.

The German’s representatives are believed to have raised United’s interest in a recent meeting with the Arsenal heirachy and the Red Devils are confident of agreeing a deal with the playmaker to move to Old Trafford, according to the Independent.

United spent £145m last summer on Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic but missed out on Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic. Mourinho consistently spoke about his determination to sign a creative player and Ozil could fit the bill.

Arsenal received little interest from across Europe for Ozil last summer with clubs unwilling to pay big given that he’s out of contract in 2018. However, there will be a significant increase in suitors this time around.
